The philosophy of osteopathy and everyday experience of osteopaths in practice cannot always be reconciled. How are philosophical ideals and scientific approaches reflected in practical actions, what value does science have to do with attending to patients on a daily basis? The 13th International Congress of the German Association of Osteopaths, which will be taking place in Hamburg for the very first time, aims to provide answers to and promote discussion of these questions. Another main topic will be osteopathic treatment of children, especially aftercare of premature infants, the biodynamic treatment of children with Balanced Fluid Tension (BFT) and the assessment and treatment of the child’s spine and cranial base.

We wish to welcome most cordially all the faithful followers and new faces in Hamburg, who are inspired by osteopathy. We are particularly proud to have the patronage of two leading personalities: Christoph Ahlhaus, First Mayor of Hamburg, and Prof. Udo Schumacher (med.), Chair of the Department of Anatomy in UKE. We are also very pleased to welcome the Director of the Kirkville Museum, Jason Haxton, who will be telling us about new museum exhibits.
I wish us all an informative and enjoyable long weekend in Hamburg.
